All Himmerlandskød’s animals have been raised and processed in an ethically viable manner. Livestock are treated according to good farming practice , which means that quality and animal welfare are taken into account during all production stages, from how they are raised to the finished product.
Our livestock do not go through exhausting long-distance transport. Long-distance transport is not only unethical towards the cattle. We also believe that meat quality is drastically reduced because the cattle are stressed and exhausted and, consequently, consume all energy in their muscles before they are slaughtered – thus resulting in a much poorer meat quality.
A short journey from the farm to the slaughterhouse and cutting facilities does not only improve animal welfare, but also the quality of the final product leaving a ‘good taste in the mouth’, in more than one respect.
